History: The Humana Festival of New American Plays held annually in March is one of the country's most important showcases for new dramatic works. Each season the bill blends contemporary dramas, classics and crowd-pleasers such as "Dracula," "A Christmas Carol," and those damned "Tuna" plays. ATL has three separate theaters under the same roof, so there's almost always more than one production on offer. The historic main building, built in 1837, is considered to be the city's best example of the Greek Revival style and also houses a restaurant and bar in the basement. Student and senior rush tickets are available 15 minutes before performances; half-price tickets go on sale from 2-6 pm the day of a performance. Don't Miss: The bar, perfect for post-show pondering of questions such as why the director chose to cast a chimpanzee in the role of Prospero.
