RADIO Merit Badge Event
Saturday 11 February 2012
Hosted by the Lubbock Amateur Radio Club at their clubhouse at 1110 98th Street from 07:45am until as late as 5:00pm on Saturday 11 February. This is one week following the merit badge college and one week preceding the monthly amateur radio license exam session In Lubbock. Lubbock Amateur Radio Club invites any boy scout to benefit from this opportunity to complete their RADIO Merit Badge. Please share this opportunity with all members of your units so they may also pre-register by 7:00pm on Friday 10 February so that we may know how many lunches to provide, complements of Lubbock Amateur Radio Club.
Please remember to follow BSA standards by having a Boy Scout buddy for all merit badge events and by being prepared with the current edition (color) of the appropriate merit badge pamphlet. Your only homework assignment is to bring a sketch a of a radio spectrum chart. There is a chart in the merit badge pamphlet that can be used as a reference in completing your sketch. We will ask for your sketch upon arrival at the clubhouse, before your transportation departs. If you are sharing a merit badge pamphlet, then we expect you to have read the entire pamphlet prior to attending the class, and recommend it even if youâre not sharing. Uniform is Boy Scout class âAâ, same as for travel.
You will have the opportunity to talk and/or keyboard live with remote licensed amateur radio operators using radios at the LARC clubhouse. There is a merit badge requirement to each spend time communicating by radio and you will have the opportunity to do just that at this event so that you may complete the entire merit badge in one stop on the same day, all within the time allotted.
