Description

Put your best foot and your best friend’s best paw forward to march in the 5th Annual Mardi Growl Parade and Festival, hosted by Friends of Young-Williams Animal Center and the City of Knoxville. Enter your cute canine in one of five categories to compete for prizes including Best Vol Spirit, Congeniality, Pet/Owner Look Alike, Best Naked Dog and Best Costume. Honor a pet that has passed away by posting his or her name on the Rainbow Bridge. As a new feature of this year’s event, enter your pet as a “Virtual Walker” in the parade. You walk with a photo button of your pet, while he or she gets to stay home on the couch, and you both raise funds to help the homeless animals at Young-Williams Animal Center. All registrants will receive goodie bags. After the parade, $10 microchips and $10 rabies vaccinations will be offered in Market Square, where many animal-related vendors will have booths for pets and owners to explore. For more information about the Mardi Growl Parade and Festival or to register for the event, go to: www.young-williams.org.

All proceeds help Young-Williams Animal Center to care for thousands of animals throughout the year. Join us for a taste of Bourbon Street and a fabulous Mardi Gras celebration – dog and cat style! – right here at home in Knoxville.
