Description
Leslie was born May 14 in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, to Eunice Casey (deceased) and Richard Wilson. As a young girl, Leslie excelled in academics and music. She began singing at the age of four, because of her mother's own talent and love of music. Her mother was an avid singer in her day that also played the violin. In addition, her father who had created his own acappella group is still a local blues singer. So, naturally it was only a matter of time before Leslie would follow suit.
After winning several talent shows and making the rounds in Pittsburgh and Washington, DC, Leslie came to New York City to take her singing career to another level. Her very first four song EP was aptly entitled "Take a Chance", and was released in March of 2007. This showcased Leslie’s soulful and powerful voice to sing different genres of music, from hip-stomping neo-soul to straight head jazz. The highly successful EP was played on internet radio in London, the Netherlands and the United States. Her sound has not only led her to a new audience it also led her to participate with other groups. Leslie performed as background vocalist to Jac & Jill, a female contemporary pop group from Queens, NY and Shayla Edmonds as a Shaylette in Ms. Edmonds’ Motown Revue. Recently she performed as front women with the Maryland based bands Actual Proof, David Prince and Friends and now Lester Saucer.
With the success of the CD, Leslie was able cross paths with several talented musicians in the city who would play with her at several venues. This included Cornelia Street Café, Smalls Jazz Club, The Annex, Mobay, Yippie Musuem, The River Room in Harlem, The Shrine, and Twin Jazz in Washington, DC. The band played a combination of R&B classics and jazz standards with a signature sound. As the band began to play more venues, the next phase was to create original music that would set them apart from other bands in the city. Thus the creation of Leslie Casey and Company!!!
Leslie is a triple threat artist; she is a singer, writer and entrepreneur. She created LC Productions, which not only promotes herself, but to introduce new acts and ventures in the future as well. This shows Leslie determination not only to be presented as an entertainer, but as a woman is who is going to make her mark as a successful businesswoman. Nevertheless, this isn't all that Leslie wants to accomplish, she eventually wants to get into acting, write a book and take on the fashion market. And with Leslie, it is all definitely possible.
Along with her busy schedule, Leslie has managed to earn an associate degree in Theatre from Montgomery College, a B.A. in Humanities from the University of Maryland and a Dual Masters in Public Relations/Distance Education in May of 2008 and August 2010 respectively. In addition, she is a member of the Phi Theta Kappa International Honor Society. Leslie also attended the prestigious Lee Strasberg Theatre and Film Institute and TVI Studios in New York City for acting.
The full length CD entitled "Let’s Play" will be out in 2010. It was produced and engineered by Greg Saracino, music arrangement by Casey Howard and Leslie. Plus features original music written by Leslie, acoustic artist Bradlee Burtner and songwriter Diane Adams. It also includes a few remakes that have Leslie’s signature sound.
It is a CD that will certainly get the attention of the listening public. Watch out for this new and exciting new artist because you haven’t seen anything yet!
