  • 12:00 PM - 1:15 PM

Description

Sprechen Sie Deutsch? Join us for monthly lunchtime gatherings of those interested in hearing and speaking German. Each month, a special guest speaks on a topic. Participants can bring their lunch and join in the ensuing conversation.

It is the challenge of Denkmalschutz (historic preservation) to find an adequate compromise between a community's historical identity as expressed in urban architecture and the need for modern buildings. Governments at all levels participate in the decision process and the answers vary greatly between here and Germany, where the former East Germany presents additional problems. Our speaker, Brigitte Fessenden, former city planner in Baltimore, will speak on the topic.

Led by Irmgard Wagner, Professor emerita of German from George Mason University, Deutsch am Mittag is open to all who wish to hear and speak German.

Tickets are $5 (no charge for members, seniors and students with ID). Beverages and sweets are provided.
