Description

The paintings of Brian Rogers have been described as allegorical, expressive - ‘a personal narrative.' Rogers, executive director for Pennsylvania Council on the Arts, brings this “personal narrative” to Hess Gallery at Elizabethtown College Jan. 20 through March 2 in an exhibit simply called “Paintings.”
The exhibit, open to the public, begins with a reception from 5 to 8 p.m. Friday, Jan. 20, in Hess Gallery and continues 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. Monday through Friday and 1 to 5 p.m. Saturday and Sunday through March 2. It is open to the public.
“Relationships of all kinds intrigue me, relationships between people or the juxtaposition of things, objects and symbols to one another,” said Rogers of his art. “The narrative nature of this work evokes thoughts of ancient stories, religion, nature, evolution and manmade structures.”
The artist, of New Cumberland, earned a bachelor's degree in fine art from Tyler School of Art, Temple University, and a master's of fine arts degree in painting from the University of Arizona. Brian taught painting and drawing and has been an instructor at Harrisburg Art Association. His art has been in exhibits in Tucson, Ariz., as well as Harrisburg, Philadelphia, New Cumberland, Carlisle and Mechanicsburg, Pa.
