I Street: Writing Class: The Craft of Creative Writing

Description

In this introductory writing course, we will explore the craft of fiction, creative nonfiction, and poetry. Students will complete weekly exercises, which will be read to and shared with the group in a respectful and supportive environment. You will be invited to focus on one genre or to experiment with two, or even all three! No previous writing experience is necessary. Come to this class to learn and play!

Valerie Fioravanti writes fiction, essays, and prose poems. Her linked short story collection, Garbage Night at the Opera, won the 2011 Chandra Prize for Short Fiction and is forthcoming from BkMk Press in Fall 2012. She organizes and hosts Sacramento's award-winning reading series, Stories on Stage.
