Description

The exhibit 1968 opened at the Minnesota History Center in October.  Our visit brought back all kinds of memories and emotions that we experienced that year and in the 60's. The sights, the sounds, the music, the Viet Nam War, it was all there. It sure seemed like yesterday to me.  For those that were too young to remember or weren't even born yet, it was a chance to experience that time in a very real perspective.  To further our flashback to 1968, I have reserved 30 seats for the play that is based on the exhibit.  I will be able to add more if necessary. The History Theater productions are very good and I'm told that this play is no exception. This is a pre-pay event.  I am setting up a direct link to Pay Pal, but I will also accept personal checks or use Amazon if you prefer.  I must have the final payment to them by January 6th.  Please do not wait until the last minute.  Send me an email to let me know if you need my address, if you are going to pay by check. I will add you to the going list. Important....Please take a minute to answer the questions with your RSVP.  1968 A year of extremes. Of war and love. Of brave beginnings and tragic endings. Of political and social upheaval. Of hatred and hope.
History Theatre and members of the Playwrights' Center bring some of the most explosive events and personalities of 1968 on to the stage for seven distinct perspectives on the year that rocked the world. The war in Vietnam, the assassinations of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. and Senator Robert Kennedy, the Mexico Olympics, Lyndon B. Johnson and Hubert H. Humphrey, the election of Richard Nixon, and even the Apollo 8 mission broadcast on Christmas Eve. These events are surrounded by the unforgettable music of the era and pop culture that entertained and reflected on a world in chaos.
Our group has been to the History Center several times and have never seen crowds like there were for this exhibit. Our after tour get together was filled with conversations about the exhibit and our memories.  I'm thinking of organizing a second visit prior to the show.  I know I missed a lot of stuff that I didn't realize I missed until I saw the photos. Let me know if you're interested in going back or for the first time.
Let's plan to meet at the Downtowner Woodfire Grill, 253 West 7th Street, around 5:15.  I'll make reservations.  We've been there before.  They treated us right and the food was very good.
