Description

The Celebrate Freedom Festival is an educational, family oriented event that gives its attendees an educational component through the living history and wonderful entertainment throughout the day. The festival gives Celebrate Freedom Foundation the opportunity to educate the public, while promoting patriotism and honoring the military at the same time. Not only is the Celebrate Freedom Festival one of the largest events in South Carolina, but it is also recognized as a major patriotic event. The festival historically generates tourism from 25 different states and we currently hold the state attendance record for a non-athletic event at 102,000 attendees. This year's theme is Women in Service to Our Nation. This includes all women in traditional and non-traditional roles such as military, politics, medicine, business and first responders. In the United States, our women veteran population is about 1.8 million. Celebrate Freedom Foundation believes women are often overlooked in their service and desires to show them national recognition and appreciation for their service. This year's festivals components include living history exhibits focused on the Vietnam War, helicopters and military vehicles, field encampments, entertainment and vendors. There will be a mini- basic training for the kids. The basic training will be conducted by female drill sergeants from Ft. Jackson. Once the kids complete their training, they will be awarded their dog tags. Also, there will be a living museum featuring actors portraying women who were first in their fields, such as Amelia Earhart. Entertainment Schedule: TBA
