Upon hearing of the party, Benvolio convinces Romeo to attend and find a beautiful woman to get his mind off Rosaline. Masked, Romeo, Mercutio, and Benvolio head to the Capulet party, where Romeo spots Juliet, and he falls in love with her. Juliet, too, falls for Romeo, but then she is informed Romeo is a Montague, as does Romeo when he learns Juliet is a Capulet. Soon, despite their family names, Friar Lawrence marries Romeo and Juliet. On the street, Benvolio and Mercutio encounter Tybalt, who tries to pick a fight with Romeo, which leads to Tybalt slaying Mercutio. Romeo seeks out, fights, and slays Tybalt in revenge. The prince appears and Benvolio explains all to him, at which the Prince decides to exile Romeo for slaying Tybalt.
The Friar, hearing Juliet threaten suicide, tells her of a poison she can take to fake death. Friar Lawrence sends an explanatory letter for Romeo about Juliet's death. In Mantua, Romeo's servant arrives and tells Romeo that Juliet is dead, they leave without seeing the letter. Romeo finds Juliet, then drinks his poison and dies. As Juliet wakes up and spots Romeo, she stabs herself with Romeo's dagger. After the destruction and deaths, Capulet and Montague make peace and swear to never fight again.
