Chamber Music Concert and Gallery Talk

William Ransom, Mary Emerson Professor of Piano at Emory and Artistic Director of the Emory Chamber Music Society, the Vega String Quartet, and Bradley Howard, tenor perform Heinrich Biber's The Battle, Vaughn-Williams' On Wenlock Edge and Shostakovich's Piano Trio in a program titled The Music of War. This concert is held in conjunction with part two of the exhibition Plains of Mars: European War Prints 1500-1825, which focuses on images of warfare and peace.
Prior to the performance, at 7 pm, concertgoers are invited to attend a gallery talk with Assistant Curator of Works on Paper Andi McKenzie in the exhibition Plains of Mars: European War Prints 1500-1825 in which she will discuss Jaques Callot’s monumental print, The Siege of the Citadel of St-Martin, on the Ile de Ré, 1627, which celebrates the victory of Louis XIII over rebellious Huguenots and their English allies, and with other works in the exhibition.
